Sweethearts cafe and restaurant

So another beautiful day in Christchurch and as we were busy thought we would pop into Sweethearts on Gardeners Rd. A lovely place great venue when the flowers are out. But enough about that, on to the important things like coffee which was not the best at all, can no one make coffee out there. Well they can but you have to hunt for it. We decided on bread and dips which was nice and the dips seemed to be home made. Can't fault the service nice and polite and didn't have to wait long.
One annoying thing was yes I know kids will be kids but playing with a rugby ball near eating customers, where you could not see the parents anywhere! Looking at the menu prices slightly on high side for lunch but you expect that for what it was.
Hmmm will I go back maybe but don't think I would go out of my way more of a blue moon visit I think. But if you want to take a drive and not go to far out of town this is a good choice so for this place I shall give it a 3/5. Which I think is kind of fair.

Vic's Cafe Victoria Street

Well it's a nice sunny day in Christchurch and thought it would be a good idea to go out for lunch. Vic's Cafe is your basic cafe which has it's own home made breads,  and organic drinks. Staff were pleasnt, food not too bad, I had french toast which was nice but soggy with berries drownig it. No worries I had my coffee well I thought I did! The coffee was not nice, a double shot, over extracted burnt bitter latte! So I was disappointed.  But hey every barista has a bad day but my son had a latte and it was a same.
There is an outside concrete courtyard with umbrellas to sit under which was not too bad. All and all it was a quick lunch as the bench seat inside was hard on the old bum.  The coffee let this place down which is why I give It on a 2/5 and that's being generous. There was no atmosphere and it's a place that you wouldn't stay at for too long, just a eat and run.

The Coffee Club

Well Sunday morning and thought great day to have brunch. Went to The Coffee Club Victoria St,  it's small not overly busy so nice and quiet.  The young man who served us was nice and polite took our order,  the start was great. But coffee was a huge let down not the greatest of flavors and warm. Big breakfast was ok just your average big breakfast but let down on the french toast, done with normal white toast bread which I could of done at home. Asked for crispy and didn't get it.
I wont be going back in a hurry 2/5 for a disappointed brunch.

C1 espresso

Had a lovely coffee at C1 espresso,  coffee was great not over extracted only thing served in a glass and  not big enough.  Food not too bad in cabinet and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Quirky place with retro games like pinball and a ride along horse that you use to get outside stores back in the 70's and 80'S.  Music is funky and never the same in one sitting. Great place to catch up, but not overly quiet and is busy. 4/5 for this place.

the beginning!

Christchurch is slowly coming together and thought it a great idea to review cafe's around Christchurch and whats happening. Get ideas from the public and show there are great places out there where we can meet have coffee chat.
I will review the cafe's coffee, food and atmosphere. Any news worth telling and places to go see. So hope to have your feed back on some of the places reviewed.  :)
